Fishing in Primeiras Banks and Lazarus Banks

Lazarusbanks

The fishing grounds of Lazarus Banks is 30km by 20km big with shallow places up to 12m depending on the tide with insane drop-offs on all the sides. Lazarus banks is 75 nautical miles(NNE) into the sea with a visibility up to 45 meters. We target 7 species of game fish : GT’s, Tuna, Sailfish, Dog Tooth, Marlin, Wahoo and Dorados.  Our Bom Dia captain has done many trips to this area! Loads of fishing knowledge and experience.

Fishing in Primeiras Banks and Lazarus Banks

We departure from Pemba in the North of Mozambique. Lazarusbanks from Pemba lies in a North East direction, 75 nautical miles. The banks are surrounded by deep water and a shallow top of 10 to 12 meters, with the shallowest part of 12 meters. We target the north, east and west side of the bank where the current creates a up swell where all the fish feed.

We mainly target 7 species of game fish where Giant Trevally (GT’s) are on the top of our list. The other species include Dog Tooth, Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado and Sailfish.

Primeiras Reef

Primeira reef consists out of a few pantaloons namely Pantaloon 1 and 2, Acorn Bank,  David Banks and Bank Lacerda. Primeira reef is located of the shore of Mozambique, north of Beira. This is  a long reef with great fishing sport. We target all the fish of Lazarus banks and all the bottom fish with a total of 35+ species of fish.

Fishing in Primeiras Banks and Lazarus Banks

Your destination is Quelimane North of Beira. We will fetch you at the airport and transport you to the yacht. We will depart from Pesca Port. Quelimane is situated 30km up in the river mouth. Your first fishing destination (pantaloons 1) is about 45 nautical miles from river mouth. The second and third pantaloons will follow. The forth pantaloons is called David’s Shoal and Fogo Island is last. In uncomfortable weather we always hide behind Fogo Island and more shallow water. We fish about 30 different species of fish. Game and bottom fish.
